Welcome to the Summer term in Year 2! 

My name is Mrs Howell and I will be the Year 2 teacher for the summer term. Most of you will recognise me as I have been teaching the class on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Please come and say hi especially if you have any questions. I am looking forward to our exciting term ahead.

As our end of topic celebration we studied, learnt and performed poetry. We are SO proud of ourselves!

CORONATION DAY!!! We celebrated the King's coronation with a special assembly. Here we are singing our coronation song and waving our flags.

We have had a space-tastic week making fruit rockets and creating our own aliens! Can you make your own fruit rocket at home? What would your alien look like and how would it communicate?

Our week began with a CRASH and a BANG!!! We think that an alien spaceship must have crashed on our playground. On Monday morning we investigated the scene and wrote reports on our discoveries. Please let us know if you notice anything suspicious around school....

We have also been creating fossils!

Team Bancroft have been creating fossils of a dinosaur

Team Bancroft have become palaeontologists this half term. They have been digging up fossils and identifying what they have found.

Welcome back guys! This half term we are looking at the exciting creatures that are dinosaurs. We have been using the VR kits to explore the skeletons of different dinosaurs in the world.

Team Bancroft have been making healthy superhero smoothies. They have been choosing healthy alternatives to one of our favourite drinks!

Team Bancroft have been creating Diya lamps ready for Diwali

We have had a visit from the fire service today to learn about all the people that help us! Thank you we had a great time exploring what it would be like to become a firefighter.

Team Bancroft have been using the charcoal to create tone and shade.

We have been experiencing the life of a coal miner this week! The children heard the sounds, experienced the darkness and had a go at mining.

To set off our new topic - what is it like in or around Bulwell. Team Bancroft have been finding local places in Bulwell using maps.

We have started the year looking at our teams artist - Bronwyn Bancroft. She is an Australian artist, author and fashion designer. We have had a great week focusing on recreating her patterns and designs! Check out what we have been up too.
