As a team, we will be working hard to help your child achieve their full potential. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to book an appointment to come and see us.
We have lots of exciting topics coming up this year! In the Autumn term, the children's topic is 'To Infinity and Beyond' where we'll be learning all about space! In the Spring term, we'll be discovering all about the Ancient Greeks and Baghdad in our topic 'A tale of two cities'. During the Summer term, we'll be learning about 'Our Changing Planet' where we'll develop our understanding of Earth, how our planet is changing and what actions we can do to help look after it.
Our PE day is Tuesday. We will be swimming on Friday afternoons.
Please ensure that your child brings a PE kit to school on a Monday. This will be kept in their lockers and brought home on a Friday for washing.
Our PE kit is:
- Black shorts, jogging bottoms or leggings
- A plain white t-shirt
- Trainers or plimsolls
Please ensure that your child comes to school with their swimming kit every Friday.
It is vital that children read outside of school. They should be logging this on Boom Reader to earn gems for their gem team! Children also have access to Spelling Shed and Times Tables Rock Stars to practise these crucial skills at home.
WOW! Look at us! This was our first visit to the Climbing Depot in Nottingham where we are learning bouldering. We will be developing a new set of skills over the coming weeks and are all very excited. It was hard work but great fun!
This week, in Team Supernova, we have begun our unit of work with the Thriving Nottingham Project run by Nottingham City Council. As part of our first session we looked at healthy eating and made fruit kebabs which tasted delicious!
We have been learning how organisms are classified using a dictomous key.
Over the last few days we have taken part in the Bikeability course which has taught us how to ride safely on the roads.
We looked at the Jewish Festival of Passover and learnt about the significance of the items on the Seder Plate.
Ancient Greek Olympics Experience:
Children from Team Supernova have been learning about the Ancient Greek Olympics. We began by watching a video which told the story about how the very first Olympic Games was created. We then acted out this story in role as the Greek Gods, the athletes and spectators! We discovered that the athletes competed against other athletes from Greek cities such as Athens, Sparta, Thebes and Argos. After the races had finished the athletes showed their appreciation to Zeus!
In this week's Music lesson, we used pitched and unpitched instruments to create our own Twinkle variations.
Here are some of us performing our variations!

The University of Nottingham brought a planetarium to school so we could look at the stars.
Christmas Dinner Day! We all looked fabulous in our christmas jumpers.
Elf Day 2023
In Music, we created our own body percussion variations on 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'.
We had an amazing day out at Manor Farm in Leicester and got the opportunity to handle a variety of animals.
We also enjoyed lots of fun Christmas activities during our Manor Farm trip!
On our way to the Christmas Village to decorate gingerbread and feed the reindeers!
We investigated how periscopes help us to see objects by reflecting light, then we made our own using card and mirrors.
This week we have been acting out the Moon landing in preparation for our writing. We have learnt the key dates and who was involved in this historic event.
We enjoyed creating the moon's phases using Oreo biscuits! Yum!
In Science, we learned about how the moon orbits the Earth and created a moving model to show our understanding
We chose a planet to research and then wrote a non-chronological report about it. Look at what an amazing job we have done!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents that came to join us for our Space, Snacks and SATs meeting.
Quidditch time!
This week, we have enjoyed creating our own models of the solar system!
We had lots of fun playing Quidditch on Friday!
This week we have made model of the Earth to show the different layers. We learnt about the inner and outer cores, the mantle and the crust which is the layer that we live on.
This term we are taking part in the Me Versus Me challenge where we try to improve our own performance in P.E.
To help deepen our understanding of the order and movement of the planets we turned ourselves into the Solar System.
We created images of our Solar System using ink marbling and paint splattering.
This year we have been doing some work on Zones of Regulation. There are 4 zones: Blue, Green, Yellow and Red and each one is linked to an emotion. We have talked about what it means to be in each zone and that we will often move between zones during the day. The important thing we learnt is that it's okay to be in any zone and we have been developing a range of strategies to help us move to the green zone where most of our learning takes place.
